Wirehead

About

Wirehead is a post-punk indie rock band formed in the summer of 2005 by a group of students at Sunderland University. Seeking to take the North East by storm, vocalist Michael Atkinson, Guitarists Dylan Mckee and Shazan Hussain and drummer Josh Minto, influenced by the musical stylings of The Clash, Maximo Park and The Cribs, with an emphasis on loud guitars and vocals, garnered a large cult following within mere months.

Embracing their local heritage and blending genres to create a new and innovative sounds, they soon attracted thousands of devoted fans to their gigs. The image of their rock and roll lifestyle has influenced youth culture on a national level and inspired a new generation of indie artists.

Their newest album, released in 2013, was met with widespread critical acclaim, earning them several album of the year awards from multiple publications, including NME, Q and The Guardian.
